Kaduna 2020 budget: Community appeals for developmental projects

Residents of Sabon Tasha Ward in Kaduna metropolis have appealed to Gov. Nasir el-Rufai to allocate developmental projects to the ward in the state’s 2020 budget.

The appeal was contained in a communiqué issued on Monday at the end of a one-day capacity building for community budget tracking team in Sabon Tasha ward, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The community said doing so would ensure fairness, equity and justice, as the area had suffered neglect from government at all levels over the years despite being the most populated in the local government.

According to the community, their neglect and marginalisation was not unconnected with their political preference in the last general elections.

It argued that after elections, the decisions of government should favour all, regardless of political affiliation or ethno-religious inclination.

“None of the projects captured in the 2018 and 2019 Chikun Local Government budget for the ward has commenced, except that of Ungwan Boro to Yakowa way, which is now worse than it was due to abandonment,” it noted.

The community members lamented that presently they were facing problems of bad roads, dilapidated social amenities and infrastructure, which required urgent government intervention.

NAN reports that the communique was jointly signed by chairmen of Sabon Tasha Youth Movement, Mr Jessy Ajeson, Pama Youth Movement, Mr Sheyin Wakili and Mr Tachio Bonnet of Galadima United Youth.

Others were Mr Tachio Bonnet, chairman  of Ungwan Sunday Community; Abdulaziz Baset, Ungwan Boro Youth; Shefiu Israel and Jonathan Umaya of Coalition of Associations for Leadership, Peace, Empowerment and Development. (NAN)
