Judge threatens to punish 2 registrars for issuing warrant without authority

For allegedly issuing a reproduction warrant that did not emanates from her, a Judge of the Lagos High Court, Igbosere,on Tuesday threatened to send away two of her registrars.

Justice Sybil Nwaka, who was very furious with the two registrars, named Tayo and Oluwola, queried how they could bring a defendant or an accused person on their own without an order ‎of the court.

She said, “It is only the Judge that has the right to order a production warrant, the substantive matter is not in this court”.

The Judge also said” The two of you are up to something, my hands are clean, everyday is for the thief ‎but one day is for the owner “.

A defendant, Tunde Adewale, whose case came up yesterday for hearing of a bail application before the court was denied bail as the motion for bail was struck out.

The judge insisted that she didn’t ordered the production of the defendant, adding that the substantive matter is not before her and she doesn’t even know the charge preferred against the defendant except for the bail application before her.

“I don’t even know the charge against him, it’s only the bail application brought before me, you sign a reproduction warrant on your own without my knowledge, I am going to send the two of you away from this court” Nwaka held.

However she struck out the motion for bail and ordered that the defendant be taken back to the medium prison custody where he was produced from
” The motion for bail is hereby struck out take him back to the medium prison, I never ordered for his production. ”
