Chief Executive Officer, Little Feet Event, Jos, Mr Erikefe Ijama, has advised women to always create time for leisure to enable them to deal with stress and related issues.

Ijama, who is popularly called uncle Kefe,  gave the advise in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Thursday.

He said the high rate of depression and other health related issues in the society made it necessary for women to create time to unwind.

He said that his company was organising a show called “Women Hangout”, which he created for women in the state to meet, make new friends, learn entrepreneurial skills and also have healthy relationships with people.

The entertainer said that the last women Hangout he held had 1200 women in attendance and that the figure was expected to rise to about 2000 women.

“We are bringing in the Lagos-based Comedian, Princess and the Popular Nollywood star , Linda Osifo, to Jos,” to feature in the show.

He said that he was sponsoring his activities as it had been very difficult for him to access any form of support in the state.

“I pay professionals to come to talk with the women during the show, we have had talk on sex in marriage, depression among women and cervical cancer; and this year promises to be very informative, ” he said.

Ijama said it was very easy for men to go out with their friends, talk , watch football to ease off tension,  but that women would only go to work, take children to school ,go back home  and cook .

“These women take care of everyone except themselves; they forget to have a life of their own all for the purpose of keeping a family and sometimes they become resentful and frustrated due to lack of rest, ” he said.

Ijama said women needed space and time out to socialise and relax to be able to give their best, and that it was the duty of husbands to give them time off, once in a while.

He advised every woman to take time out to relax.

NAN spoke with some women who are regulars on the show and they confirmed enjoying every moment of the show.

One of them, Mrs Janet Ekat, said she hardly had time to relax with her friends and that the show gave her the platform to socialise with friends.

Mrs Noro Charles described the show as the right platform for her to relax.

Mrs Gloria Ndun said the show was making her laugh, and that laughing had medicinal value.

“A good laughter helps in reducing depression and the show is exactly doing that,” Ndun said.
