Jonathan, a True Democrat – Tukur
The former National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has described President Goodluck Jonathan as a true democrat for conceding defeat and congratulating General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the last presidential election.
Tukur said this after he was accredited for the gubernatorial election on Saturday at his unit 02 at Ajiya ward in Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
“Jonathan is a true democrat, his act has strengthened democracy in Nigeria, it shows democracy has come to stay, nobody has ever conceded defeat, even when the results of elections were still being counted, democracy is gaining ground in our country” Tukur said.
He accused the ruling party of allowing governors to impose whoever they wanted against the general and popular demand of the electorate.
“Governors turned PDP to be their personal house, wanting to always do what they liked, that’s why PDP, for 16 years of ruling, was accused of having nothing to show forth, because of state governors have highjacked all the party structure”, Tukur added.
He also berated the All Progressives Congress, (APC) for not having the true ideology of change as it professed, saying” who will change what? Did they ever say exactly what they will change? The party is just making mere noise”.
He added that those defecting to APC were doing so because they didn’t have good political principles and they didn’t mean well the country.
