I’ve not stolen a dime from Imo coffers –Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, Thursday said that he had not stolen a dime from the state coffers saying that government money is “Cursed money.”

Okorocha who said this in Owerri, the state capital while interacting with newsmen, also stated that he had no property outside the country including foreign bank accounts. He therefore, challenged anybody with evidence that he owned a single property or foreign bank accounts anywhere in the world to come forward with such evidence.

He reiterated that the property he owned in London and the United States of America (USA) were acquired before he became the governor of Imo State in 2011.

Describing his deputy, Prince Eze Madumere as an ingrate having served him for 25 years and now pitched tent against him was most unfortunate.

According to him, Madumere was his first choice for the post of governor in the state but decided to pick his son-law, Uche Nwosu after re-examing the qualities and potentials of the two people involved.

“My deputy was my first choice who had been with me for over 25 years and Uche Nwosu only spent 18 years with me. I have weighed their qualities and I concluded that Uche had all it takes to move the state forward without considering where he comes from.

I did not pick him because he married my daughter, if I had known that he (Uche) was chasing my daughter I would have sacked him from my government because of poor family background”.

Speaking further Okorocha said, “My deputy (Madumere) did not contest any election, I only picked him as my deputy but he stabbed me in the back.

I advised him to contest for Senate (Owerri zone) and the former secretary to the state government (SSG) Sir Jude Ejiogu to vie for Federal House of Representatives both of them turned down the offers”.

He claimed that Nwosu had unusual passion to develop the state and he had displayed his strong character to show that he is a detribalized person.

Okorocha who also described his other brother in-law Chuks Ololo who is angling for his seat as a big joker saying “I don’t know what he is doing and I will never support him, he cannot make a good governor, Ololo will introduce hatred and dichotomy into the state governance”.
