At a market in Borno State, Nigerian Army troops assigned to Operation Hadin Kai apprehended a food supply for the Islamic State West African Province as well as Boko Haram soldiers and their commanders.
Wida Kachalla, the suspect, was apprehended in Benisheikh Market by troops from the 154 Taskforce Battalion working with local vigilantes, according to PRNigeria.
Kachalla was also a “errand boy” for the renowned ISWAP Logistics Commander, Modu Sulum, who was slain by Operation Hadin Kai forces on Sunday.
Kachalla is from Murguba Settlement, which is under the authority of ISWAP and Boko Haram.
According to an intelligence source, Kachalla was able to gnaw through his SIM cards at the time of his capture, but the military was able to collect his two cellphones.
“In recent weeks, we have intercepted communication and couriers of terrorists in their various channels and routes. While the suspect chewed and swallowed his SIM cards, we already got the major data for intelligence gathering.
“Other items recovered from him included a bag of flour, cartons of biscuits, crates of evaporated milk, crates of soft drinks, cartons of anti-grass chemical, among other consumables,” the operative stated.
The Nigerian military’s land and air components launched strikes on ISWAP and Boko Haram locations in Wartek in the general region of Lamboa woodland in Borno State, according to SaharaReporters.
An ISWAP commander, Modu Sulum, and 20 other fighters were killed in airstrikes on Sunday, according to SaharaReporters.
According to reports, the ISWAP members were part of the network that killed fugitive Boko Haram commander Abubakar Shekau and destroyed electricity transmission towers at Malanari on the Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway.
They were shot down by Alpha-Jets, L-39s, and MI-35 helicopters in airstrikes.
The terrorists were killed in land and air offensives, according to Brig-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations.
