Iran arrests 17 CIA ‘spies,’ to ‘put them to death’

Apparently escalating tension between her and the West, Iran claims it has arrested 17 CIA spy agents after breaking their ring. This is coming few days after Iran seized a British oil vessel.
According to a report by Daily Mail which Daily Times is tracking, the country’s intelligence ministry said some of the arrested 17 spies will face the death penalty.
There has been serious tensions in the gulf region for weeks which worsened by Iran’s seizure of a UK-flagged vessel
‘The identified spies were employed in sensitive and vital private sector centres in the economic, nuclear, infrastructural, military and cyber areas… where they collected classified information,’ a spokesman said.
Washington has yet to respond but the spy claims are likely to send tensions spiraling further.
Iran has been feuding with the West for weeks over the crumbling nuclear deal and a series of threats to Middle East shipping, which heightened again last week when Tehran’s revolutionary guards seized a British tanker in the Straits of Hormuz.
‘Those who deliberately betrayed the country were handed to the judiciary… some were sentenced to death and some to long-term imprisonment,’ an intelligence spokesman told Iranian media.
The suspects had been ’employed at sensitive and crucial centres and also the private sector related to them, working as contractors or consultants,’ said the official.
