IPOB coordinator, Chibueze AKA Emperor go underground after battle with security agencies

By John Ngwu

Security operatives have become an endangered species in the South-East geo-political zone of Nigeria as they are easily attacked, maimed and killed by suspected separationists and cultists.

One of the top coordinators of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Madueme Chibueze Nwachukwu Kelvin has gone into hiding after a deadly clash between his group and security agencies.

Our correspondent reports that the clash, at Emene, in Enugu State, left several persons dead.

Chibueze, from Uke in Anambra State, is the youth coordinator of the separatist group and is now on the wanted list of the Nigeria Police.

A police source hinted that chibueze, who was an undergraduate of Federal University of Technology, Owerri, has been involved in the “recruitment of IPOB members, arranging of protests, printing of the group’s insignias and arrangement of logistics.”

It was gathered that prior to the Emene incident, Chibueze also in February 13, 2019, had coordinated the Anambra youth, Imo branch to Onitsha rally, which later resulted to a confrontation with the police anti-robbery squad as they made their way back to Owerri.

A member of the group claimed that “the police just saw our member with Biafra insignia and started a bloody attack on them, during which at least five of our members were killed.”

But the security agencies countered the claims, stating that the agitators first launched an attack on them.

However, the incident of August 23rd 2020, was a different ball game as several of the agitators were reportedly killed by men of the Department of State Services.

The incident at St. Patricks Secondary School, Emene threw the entire Enugu metropolis into fear, with people running helter skelter.

The IPOB members were said to have been having an early morning meeting when the secret police stormed the venue and opened fire on them.

However, security agencies said the IPOB members were rather having a recruitment and training exercise.

“They were actually training their members when we smashed the venue of the illegal act.

“We succeeded in arresting some members of the deadly IPOB group.

“Some ring leaders of the group, especially one Madueme Chibueze Nwachukwu Kelvin, has been on the run ever since that day.

“But we are asking him to submit himself to the appropriate authorities because we must surely get him wherever he is,” the DSS said in its buletin.
