International Breweries Announces Resignation of MD Carlos Coutino
International Breweries Nigeria Plc has announced the resignation of its Managing Director and Board member, Mr. Carlos Coutino, with effect from March 1, 2026.
The disclosure was contained in a notice signed by the Company Secretary, Temitope Oluwatosin, and addressed to shareholders, the investing public and the Nigerian Exchange Limited. Mr. Coutino joined the company in 2018 as National Sales and Trade Marketing Director and rose through the ranks before his appointment as Managing Director and Business Unit President on January 1, 2023.
In the statement, the Board expressed appreciation for his contributions, noting that he would be transitioning to another leadership role within the AB InBev business. The company said it was grateful for his outstanding performance and wished him success in his future endeavours.
Under Mr. Coutino’s leadership, International Breweries recorded its highest-ever sales volume and market share and returned to profitability after six years of restructuring. The company also achieved its highest employee engagement score in Nigeria during the period.
Beyond commercial performance, he played a key role in reshaping the company’s digital strategy by leading the development of a digital product built with local talent, which has since been scaled across six countries.
The Board has approved the appointment of Mr Nicholas Kade as Managing Director and member of the Board, effective March 1, 2026. Before his appointment, Mr Kade served as Sales Director of International Breweries Plc, where he oversaw national sales strategy, commercial execution and performance delivery in a highly competitive and growth-oriented market.
Mr Kade brings more than 15 years of experience in driving growth and transformation across Africa. He holds a bachelor’s degree and an honours degree in business management, as well as a Master of Commerce with distinction from Stellenbosch University.
He also completed a postgraduate programme in business at GIBS Business School, University of Pretoria.
He began his career at Anheuser-Busch InBev through its Graduate Management Trainee programme and later held several Commercial Director Roles in South Africa, with responsibilities spanning sales strategy, revenue growth and leadership of diverse regional teams. His track record includes driving customer experience transformation, implementing business enablement initiatives and delivering sustainable commercial results.
International Breweries Plc recently reported a third-quarter pretax profit of N12.6 billion for the period ended September 2025, compared with a loss of N4.3 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Pretax profit for the nine months rose sharply to N74.2 billion from a loss of N154.5 billion in 2024, while quarterly revenue increased 9.42 per cent year on year to N131.5 billion and nine-month revenue climbed 37.6 per cent to N472.5 billion, driven by strong demand for its brewed products.
