Insurgency: Nollywood sets to change narrative in Northeast

The Nigeria movie industry is set to address the challenges of insurgency faced in the north eastern part of the country through epoch movies aimed at exposing the violent extremism that has bedevilled the region.
With an eight weeks drama series titled “In love and in Ashes” the movie is packaged to rekindle hope in the face of the unfortunate disaster that has ravaged the troubled zones of the country.
Produced by Water Shade Entertainment, the movie will no doubt leverage on the largest television networks in the country as a medium to best pilot it’s message of uniting Nigerians as one indivisible nation that will rise up to the occasion of speaking against all forms of division and violent extremism.
However, in a statement signed by the Media and Publicity Officer of Water Shade Entertainment, Mr. Martins Ulonnam, and made available to our correspondent, it says that the eight episode drama series will showcase a cast that accentuates love over hate and draws the moral conclusion that will overcome extremism.
Ulonnam said, “the movie is a story about loss, regret, forgiveness, and the incredible human spirit and it’s capacity for healing. It is a narrative of hope in the face of disaster, a bitter-sweet tale that highlights the social, humanitarian and moral challenges that bedevils communities and their inhabitants that have experienced violent extremism in the North East Nigeria.
“Set in Maiduguri, the movie hope to rally all stakeholders to rise above ethnic and religious differences and jointly fight back the menace called insurgence”, he said.
However, the movie was on the 28th of March, premiered in Lagos at the Muson Centre.
Daily Times reports that star actress, Patience Ozokwor, featured in the lead role, while the popular 2face Idibia, known as (2Baba), recorded the movie sound track.
