How Instagram made me popular- Cindy Blessing
Chikezie Blessing Chiedozie is the CEO of Egostherskincare / Egosther koncept. The diva, who is fondly called Cindy Blessing, is a Nollywood starlet who doubles as beautician. In this interview with MUTIAT ALLI, the Abia State born skincare expert shares her success story, challenges, as well plans to take over Nollywood by storm with her own movie production.
Can you share more about yourself?
My name is Chikezie Blessing Chiedozie but people know me as Cindy. I’m an actress and skincare expert from Abia State. The last of five children and also an orphan. I actually lost my dad at a very tender age and my mom year in 2000. Growing up days has not been easy but God has been merciful.
What were the challenges you faced as an orphan and how did you cope?
Being an orphan is nothing to be ashamed of. I only get sad when people and friends talked about their mum, especially Mother’s Day.
Sometimes, I really wished my mom or dad is there for me to pour out my heart to. It hasn’t really easy going through some emotional stress all by yourself with no parents to run to.
How long have you been a beautician?
It has always been in my blood to be a beautician right from secondary school days , but officially I started 4 years ago. But on the low key.
How did it all start?
Hmmmmm , as a young girl, we all like looking good especially when you live around big aunties with flawless skin beautiful faces and all. I really wanted to have their kind of skin tone and look flawless and beautiful like them. One thing about me is that I ask questions a lot, I really want to know what they use and how they achieved such flawless skins. My quest for beautification also made me register for make up classes which I did for 4 months and was given a certificate.
Can you share your success story?
My success story actually started through Instagram. Anytime I post pictures, I get comments like ‘your skin is so flawless, you’re beautiful what cream are you using and all that.
With all these questions all the time people really want to know what creams I use. So, I decided to go into skin training to perfect my craft so as to reach out to people. I’ve been making my own cream since 3 to 4 years now. And to God be the glory it’s been awesome
These days, lots of youths wants to venture into entrepreneurship, what does it take to build up your kind of business?
Yes that’s true everybody wants to do one business or the other. Skincare Business is not a joke or something you just woke up one morning and say ‘Yes’ this what I want to do without going to the right direction about it . Go to Skincare school learn from the best and make researches about your ingredients. Its very important before you go about damaging people’s skins.
It’s a very sensitive business that you need to be careful because your dealing with a whole lot of people from different works of life.
What can be a startup capital for a beginner?
Capital depends your pockets. I can’t really say . Some people want it big and some small depending their budget. N50,000 and above.
How lucrative is the business?
So far so good it’s good. Once you know what you’re doing , you make some cash for yourself. It also gives you more ideas and knowledge about skincare. What to use and what not to use. Expose you to many natures secrets
Have you encountered an embarrassing moment with a client?
In this business, sure their is . Every business do face some challenges so it’s normal.
Away from business and movies, how do you relax?
I hardly relax because aside this Business I work as well , so you see I hard have rest for myself.
How supportive is your boyfriend in all you do?
Hmmmmm let’s leave boyfriend out of this.
Define your style?
I don’t do fashion, I wear what I feel comfortable in and most importantly what fit me , let’s leave fashion for the fashionistas. I’m very sure people like my sense of dressing. We don’t have to over do it.
Do you have plans to join Nollywood female producer?
Yes, although, I’m not such a popular face in Nollywood (laughs). But, I’m making plans to do a very big movie this 2018. It is going to be a big one! All my fans should I expect the other side of me.
Who are those you admire?
I admire a whole lot which I can’t start naming, but few I can mention are Rita Dominic, Uche jumbo, RMD, Ruth Eze, Funke Akindele and more.
What kind of movies would you love to act in? Romantic, action or Comedy?
My dear, I don’t mind oh, I’ll do all of the ones mentioned.
Have you ever had a crush on any actor?
Not at all. Not because, they are not fine enough oh. Of course they are some cute, but I don’t look at them that way.
And lastly, where do you see your brand in 5 years time
We expand are and by His grace we be launching new products and getting our office ready. Egostherskincare / Egosther koncept will be heard all over the world. We will be a household name with multiple branches by God’s grace.
