Insecurity: USB announces two bills to protect Biafrans

The United States of Biafra, led by Simon Ekpa, on Tuesday announced two bills to protect Biafrans amid insecurity in the South-East region especially the recent killings in Nkalaha community where over 20 innocent victims were murdered.

The bills, which include the right to bear arms and self-defence and an arms manufacturing bill, were passed by the cabinets of the United States of Biafra in a virtual meeting on Tuesday.

In a statement by the Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Staff of USB, Dr. Ngozi Orabueze, released on X, it was noted that the bills are necessary to respond to killings in the United States of Biafra territory.

“During the just-concluded 12th session of the USBG Cabinet meeting, the following bills were proposed by the Deputy Prime Minister on behalf of the Prime Minister, voted for, and passed into law by the Cabinet members.

“The rights to bear arms and self-defence Act 27/2025.

“Self-defence is necessary to the security of liberty and a free state. The right of the people to keep and bear arms for the purpose of defending themselves and the state shall not be infringed.

“Arms Manufacturing Bill Act 28/2025

The United States of Biafra, as a state, is tasked with obtaining the means to locally manufacture weapons of a defensive nature to be used to defend the State and people,” the statement reads.

Recall that reports from the civil rights group, International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, Intersociety, barely a week ago reports that security agencies and non-state actors killed 180 persons in the South-East Nigeria Biafra territory between December 2024 and January 2025.

Meanwhile, the police and security agencies in Nigeria have remained silent over the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law report.
