Insecurity: Kaduna Govt Suspends Schools Resumption Indefinitely

The Kaduna State government has put a hold on the resumption of classes in all of the state’s local governments until further notice.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai told a stakeholders meeting on Monday that the administration made the decision because of the ongoing vigorous military operation against bandits in most sections of the state.

He told members of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), and other professional and community-based organizations that the operation was targeted at flushing out the bandits from their hideouts.

Governor El-Rufai went on to say that the government was determined to protecting vulnerable youngsters from attacks by fleeing bandits who were already experiencing the military’s superior firepower.

He said that the military has sent more troops to the state for the operation, and he advised people to be wary of strangers in their midst, claiming that fleeing bandits may enter their neighborhoods.
