INEC Distributes Voting Materials, Card Readers in Abia

The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) in Abia State, has said that only card readers would be used for accreditation during Saturday’s elections.

Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Selina Oko, stated this in Umuahia while distributing election materials, adding that where a voter’s fingerprints could not be recognised by the machine, after the permanent voter’s card had been identified by it, the voter would still be allowed to vote after filling the incident form.

Oko disclosed that INEC had taken delivery of all the sensitive materials required for Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections, stating that all the relevant materials have been received and were being distributed to the various local government electoral officers as at Thursday for onward movement to the council areas.

She assured the people that the commission had resolved all the issues of the card reader during the presidential election, pointing out that the governorship and House of assembly elections would be better.

Agents of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), and All Progressives Congress (APC), were present at the INEC office taking stock of the materials being distributed.
