Indigenous contractors want Indians back in steel company

The Udu Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria, have cried out demanding for the return of Nigeria’s premier steel company to the Indian company under which they did business.
This is contained in a letter to President Muhamadu Buhari and  signed on behalf of its members by Happy Seiki and Prince Joshua Efe, Chairman and Head of Debt Collation Committee respectively, Udu Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria.
The association berated the sacking of the Indian company and sale of the company to one Premium Steel and Mining Company Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) as a result of debts owed several banks by the Indians, noting that nothing has been done since the new buyer assumed position.
The association also accused AMCON for allegedly closing down the company even though it paid all salaries and arrears including bills before it dispersed the over three thousand workers of the company just as it demanded an explanation for its actions against the former operators.
It also described AMCON of intervention in the affairs of the Indian operators in DSC as “destructive” and ill-advised, noting that the company would have overcome the debt burden owed if she was given the opportunity and time.
According to the association, “five years after AMCON’s incursion into DSC, the plant has remained closed with over one thousand of the staff having lost their lives.”
