My inability to secure a job made me join comedy – Comedian Forever

In the Nigerian comedy industry, time after time; fans have had the pleasure to enjoy incredible comic and music performances, simultaneously – but having a show that is strictly more of comedy is quite rare. And for this reason, sensational comedian FOREVER has decided to take it upon himself to bring to the Nigerian audience; a comedy show delivered in an unprecedented dimension. A seasoned OAP and comedian; in this interview; FOREVER dishes out what makes his talent unique, his upbringing and reasons his upcoming show ‘FOREVER FUNNY with FOREVER’ will go down in history as one of the most memorable comic events in Nigeria.

 Could you introduce yourself?

My name is FOREVER. I am a comedian and also an on-air personality with Nigeria Info 99.3fm. I am fully into entertainment.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Ughelli, Delta State. I was born there and never moved from there until going to further my education in Enugu.

 What was growing up like?

Growing up was fun as there was a communal lifestyle then. Even though we didn’t get everything we wanted, I can say we got the things we needed hence I won’t be here today.

  When did you discover your talent?

I discovered my talent in 2005 and it was on a beautiful Saturday morning as I stumbled unto ‘Nite of A Thousand Laughs’ and comedian I GO DYE was performing and after watching him something was triggered in me knowing I could do this. That was the beginning of comedy for me. That was the north of FOREVER.

What made you pursue comedy?

I decided to pursue comedy when I graduated from school in 2010 because the jobs were not forthcoming to me as a fresh mechanical engineering graduate. So I told myself that through comedy, I paid my fees in school which means if I invest extra effort on this, I have the potential of building a life through it and immediately, my mind was made up.

What would you describe as your source of inspiration?

God is my ultimate inspiration. Also, life, because life could be serious or funny purely based on your perception of how it is.

 Who are those you regard as your mentors for comic performance?

I have two mentors in the comedy industry and they are Mc Abbey and Saco. Alibaba is my role model but in terms of performances I admire them a while lot.

Could you tell us about your upcoming show?

FOREVER FUNNY WITH FOREVER is a comedy show. There are very few comedy shows in Nigeria. What we have in abundance are concerts organised by comedians but this is different. This is a pure comedy show where different strengths will be enjoyed by the audience. It will be happening on April 29, 2018 at the MUSON CENTRE, Lagos by 5pm.

 What other talented comedians will be at the show?

Alibaba, Mc Abbey, Saco, Kennyblaq, SLK, Dee One, Phronesis, 16 Oniru, Franchez, Mr Paul, Damola.

Would there be musical performance?

There will be just two musical performances from the amazing Timi Dakolo and Isaac Geralds.

Any special segment fans should look forward to?

I will be performing for the minimum of an hour because when a comedian organises his show, it’s meant to be his day to tell his stories. So people should watch out for this segment. I want people to know that FOREVER is indeed FOREVER FUNNY.

What more should fans expect from you after this?

Fans should expect more work. Amazing and exciting contents from the FOREVER BRAND. FOREVER is here to stay and make his mark in the entertainment industry.

Never give up, keep moving and constantly improve yourself.
