Imbibe reading culture, Taraba speaker urges students

The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah has called on the Students of various higher institutions of learning across the State to imbibe the culture of reading.

Peter Diah made the call during the launch of a book titled: “Protocol and Etiquette: A Practical Handbook, written by his Chief of Staff, Evangelist Philip Munlip.

The event, held at one of the lecture theatres of the State University, Jalingo, the Lawmaker charged the Students to emulate his Chief of Staff by reading widely.

He said, low reading culture is the cause of breakdown of protocol in every human society, appealing that the Management of Taraba State University and others across the State to use the Book as a Guide in organising Workshops and Seminars for Civil Servants in the State.

Mr. Speaker further congratulated his Chief of Staff, Evangelist Munlip and asked him to keep the flag flying.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Emmanuel Q. Njiwa, represented by Sunday Kala Ngarka, a Professor in the State University, called on the people of the State to always cultivate the habit of reading and also commended the Author for doing a good work.

“If he were to be here, this is what he would be saying, I commend the Author of the Book, I appreciate the effort he has made to write this Book, he will say the Book is timely”, said Prof. Kala.

The Book Reviewer, Ambassador Musa John said that the Book is a good companion for everybody especially now that people break protocol without regrets.

Speaking earlier, the author of the Fourteen Chapter Book, Evangelist Munlip emphasized that the Book was part of his contributions towards the development of the State.

Evangelist Munlip who was full of joy and happiness over what he described as dream come true, thanked Governor Ishaku and his Boss, Rt. Hon. Diah for their various contributions that led to the success of the Book launch.
