I’M Proud to Wear Henry’S Jersey Number –Walcott
Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has revealed that he wanted to wear number eight shirt when he first arrived at the north London outfit, but now he feels proud to wear the same number as club legend Thierry Henry.
Walcott joined Arsenal as a 16-year-old in January 2006 from Southampton and he has since gone on to become an important player in manager Arsene Wenger’s ranks.
The England international, whose current season has been interrupted by injuries, has revealed that when he first signed for the Gunners he wished to wear number eight jersey as he wanted a lower number, but couldn’t get it as it was being worn by Samir Nasri at the time.
As a result he had to settle for number 32, the same as his time at St. Mary’s.
“At the time I wanted No 8”, Walcott was quoted as saying.
