I’m the Authentic PDP Chairman in Ondo State- Poroye

The internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state on Monday took another dimension as a factional Chairman, Biyi Poroye, appeared to laid claims to the leadership structure of the party in the state.
Poroye, who addressed journalists at his office in Akure, the state capital, said he is the ‘authentic chairman of the party crediting his claims to a signed letter duly received from the Alhaji Ali modu Sheriff led factional National Chairman.
He disclosed that the factional National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Sherif and the party’s National Secretary had through a letter dated 12th May, 2016 authenticated his leadership.
Poroye who stylishly admitted that Governor Olusegun Mimiko is the Leader of the party in the state noted that the faction led by him is the
only one recognized structure of the party in the state known by the national leadership of the party.
“Alli modu Sherif is the only authentic National Chairman of the PDP in Nigeria. He has a formidable structure in all the 36 states of the country and he is accepted by all the stakeholders of the party.
“There is only one state secretariat of the PDP in Ondo State and the office is opened to all members of the party. We are expecting any member interested in the Governorship race to obtain form at the party’s secretariat”, he added. he said.
The factional Chairman who also agreed that the umbrella party in the state is enmeshed with crisis explained that his own faction was willing to rescue the party from being collapsed totally in the state.
According to him, his own faction of the party would conduct a primary election which had already been fixed for 23rd of August to choose to the party’s main candidate ahead of the November 26th Governorship election in the state.
He further disclosed that billionaire businessman, Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, who is a foremost national leader of the party had already shown interest to contest in the election and had also gotten his nomination form at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja
“Jimoh Ibrahim is our leader and is one of the big fish in the PDP that the opposition party will hear about and they will tremble”, he added
Poroye added that the duo of Sola Ebiseni, the resigned as the commissioner for environment and Bamiduro Dada, who also tendered his resignation as the commissioner for local government and chieftainancy affairs in Governor Mimiko’s government had already shown interest to contest in the governorship race using the faction as a structure.
He expressed optimize that the party will produce the next Governor of the state in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
