Ilaje youths want peaceful polls in Ondo

Ilaje Youth Congress (IYC), has charged President Muhammadu Buhari to provide adequate security personnel to maintain peace, law and order during and after the gubernatorial election taking place in Ondo state on Saturday.
The charge is contained in a statement issued in Warri and signed by Prince Ikuesan Oluwawumisan and Aganmayo Ayodeji, President and Secretary respectively of the Ilaje Youth Congress.
IYC  noted that the call became necessary following an investigation that some persons are making efforts to cause crisis during and after the election which may not augur well for the people of the state.
The group stated that the impending crisis if not checked with the provision of adequate security personnel, will breach the peaceful coexistence of the peace loving people, especially the youths of the state.
IYC also called on the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, to ensure the security of lives and properties.
“We want to use this medium to plead with Our amiable Governor, His
Excellency, Gov. Mimiko to join hands with the Federal Government as the Chief Security Officer of the state, in ensuring a maximum security of life and property in the state before, during and after
the Governorship Election,” the organization.
IYC also appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) to conduct a “credible, free and fair election” in Ondo State stressing, “INEC should know that they have integrity to protect as far as Ondo State election is concern, as such they should toe the line of neutrality in the conduct of the election in order for the people to have hope and trust believing that their vote counts.”
They further pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari not to be silent on the appointment of a commissioner from Ondo State in the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) saying the delay is negatively impacting on the people of the catchment area who do not have anyone to represent their interest in the Commission.
