The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has been declared winner of the governorship election in the state.

Announcing the results early Sunday morning in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, the INEC returning officer in the state, Prof. Ozumba, said Ikpeazu polled a total of 264,713 votes to beat his closest challenger Dr. Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who garnered 180, 882 votes.
The governorship elections in the state was declared inconclusive on April 11, following widespread allegations of rigging in some local governments and cancellations in other areas.
