Ikpeazu flags off ward ward’s projects in Olokoro

Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has formally flagged off the “one ward one project initiative of his administration aimed at taking development to the grassroots.’
The programme is to run through a bottom to top approach with town unions, stakeholders and traditional rulers in each community being responsible for selecting projects of need.
Speaking at the flag of the programme which also saw the commissioning of the Umudere Olokoro civic hall built by the government under the initiative, the Governor, Dr Ikpeazu said the initiative is one of his electioneering campaigns to ensure an inclusive government.
According to him, the initiative will be driven from the communities to the state level as the essence is to ensure that the projects to be done are those actually desired by the communities.
The Governor disclosed that the civic hall project for Umudere came about following a report by an indigene of the area over the dilapidated state of the hall and urged the beneficiaries of the project to protect it.
He also promised to provide the sum of one million naira to sink a borehole there.
The executive chairman of Umuahia South, Prince Obioma Eze Ogbulafor appreciated the Governor for selecting Olokoro as the first community to benefit from the one ward one project initiative and assured him of the support of Olokoro people at all times.
In his speech, the Coordinator of the Abia State Rural Infrastructure Development Initiative, chief Ike Onyenweaku thanked the Governor for fulfilling yet another campaign promise to provide the grassroots with projects that touch them directly and pleaded with Olokoro people to lend their weight behind the administration of Governor Ikpeazu.
Highlight of the event was the conferment of the chieftaincy title of ‘Omereoha on the Governor by the traditional ruler of Umudere Olokoro, Eze Godwin Ebo.
