Ikpeazu assures Item people on reticulation of water scheme

Work on the reticulation of the Item Water Scheme will commence by January, 2018. Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu disclosed this while addressing the people or Item during the 2017 Item Day Celebration at Jane Oteh Mini Stadium, Amaokwe Item, Bends Local Government Area .

He said he was touched by the challenge of portable water in the community, assuring that “the issue of lack of portable water will have been confined to the dust bin”, after the Water scheme is fixed, assuring that since it is worth doing, it would be delivered and in record time.

The Governor also appreciated the Chieftaincy title “Ohamarala Dike” (people already know the strong man) earlier conferred on him by the Umunnato Traditional Rulers led by the Deputy Chairman, Bends Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Jerry Akpala and assured not to disappoint them.

The Governor, who used the opportunity to visit some notable Item sons, including the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Cosmos Ndukwe, High Chief Jonny Ukpabi, Barr. J.U Eke, SAN among others was reassured by the people that they would throw their weight behind him.

In his address, the Deputy Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Cosmos Ndukwe and the Commissioner for Housing, Chief James Okpara appreciated the “One Ward, One project Initiative” of Governor Ikpeazu administration and his giant development strides in various sectors of the economy,

assuring him that his re-election in 2019 is not negotiable as they would mobilize Item people, Bende North and entire Bende LGA to vote massively for him.

In their separate speeches, the member representing Bende Federal Constituency, Nnenna Ukeje, Prof. Joe Irukwu and the Women’s Wing President General of Item Development Association, Prof Regina Ogali assured the Governor of their love and continuous support for him.

Earlier in his remark the President General, Item Development Association and proprietor, Vision Africa Radio, Umuahia, Bishop (Dr) Sunday Onuoha said that the 2017 edition of the Day was dedicated to the women.

He stressed the need for the women to be at the forefront of the effort to mobilize massively for increasing the voters’ strength of the community through registration of all eligible voters.
