Ihedioha bags Ikenga award for excellence

Former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, was at the weekend honoured with the Ikenga Award for Excellence at a gathering of eminent Igbo leaders. The Ikenga Award for Excellence is a global platform for prestigious honour bestowed annually on distinguished achievers from the South East geo-political zone for their contributions to the development of Nigeria and Igbo land.
Ihedioha and other Igbo sons and daughters were presented with different categories of award at the ceremony held at the Convention Hall of the Nike Lake Resort and Hotel, Enugu, Enugu State.
The Award, according to the Director General of Ikenga Foundation, Dr. Ben Ugwu, was meritoriously bestowed on Ihedioha who was the Imo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2015 general elections in recognition of his unassailable records of achievement as a public officer, particularly in the House of Representatives.
Hon Ihedioha, in his remarks shortly after receiving the plaque from former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, thanked the organizers for finding him worthy of such honour. According to him, he considered the award very significant, coming from his kinsmen after he has left public office. He reiterated his avowed commitment towards the growth and development of the South East and Nigeria in general.
Other recipients of the award at the ceremony chaired by Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, former Governor of Anambra State, include, Former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Prof Pat Utomi, Chief Jimi Agbaje.
