Ighalo injury big challenge for Super Eagles – Official

Super Eagles face a big challenge to fill the void caused by the absence of injured striker Odion Ighalo, team spokesman Toyin Ibitoye has admitted.

It’s a massive miss to be without a player who has scored six goals in the last three matches for the Eagles,” Ibitoye remarked.

So, it’s a big challenge to fill this role, but we have a lot of options in this regard and it is left for the other players to rise to the occasion.

Other players need to prove themselves worthy to the coaches and Nigerians that they can do it.
They need to step up their game and utilize the opportunity given to them by the coach.”
Ibitoye disclosed that Ighalo suffered a hamstring injury yesterday in action for his Chinese club and he will be out for “some weeks”.

Injury has already ruled out Shehu Abdullahi and Francis Uzoho for the AFCON qualifier in South Africa, skipper Mikel Obi has again been left out, while Wilfred Ndidi is suspended.
