Idimogu applauds Ambode over construction of pedestrian bridge at Toyota b/stop
A member of Lagos State House of Assembly representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II, Jude Emeka Idimogu, has applauded the Executive Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, for considering and granting his request to construct a pedestrian bridge at Toyota bus stop on Apapa/Oshodi express way of the road.
In a recent chat with select newsmen, Idimogu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the active and performing Governor Ambode on this gesture which he made known on Monday to wild jubilation of traders while on inspection of various projects in the state.
Governor Ambode, who had to make a revisit to Ladipo market on Monday to address the traders having earlier visited the ongoing road construction at Ladipo street on Sunday in addition to the on-going airport road construction, however appealed to the traders to cooperate with contractors on the work site to ensure hitch free of work on the road. He opined he could have on interim ordered the closure of the market but believes the work could still go on unhindered with the maximum cooperation of traders in the market and their customers by allowing the contractors free flow work space.
“You will recall that I had earlier moved a motion on the floor of the House precisely on Monday 11th April, 2016 on the ‘need for a pedestrian bridge at Toyota Bus stop, along Apapa-Oshodi expressway’. Of course, I did not stop there as I wrote to follow up on this to the Governor on the same request on the 28th of November, 2016” an excited Hon Jude explained. I have however waited patiently till this day for this landmark achievement, though a response was sent to me in December of the same year it has been forwarded to an appropriate quarter for further action. Also note that this is not the only project that have been considered in my constituency as facilitated as I could continue to go on, such as Ifoshi road in Ejigbo and Olusesi/ Nwachukwu Drive in Isolo LCDA that has also been awarded to contractors that is starting very soon. I cannot but to express my heartfelt gratitude to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on behalf of myself and the good people of my constituency, Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II”.
The benefit of a pedestrian bridge at Toyota bus stop is enormous as it will check the periodic traffic logjams at Toyota bus stop, most especially during peak period when the traders who mostly live in my constituency are crossing road to board vehicles going home. It will also check the perennial heat and run accidents on the road and reduce criminal activities in the traffic caused by the incessant traffic hold up due to crossing on the highway.
The man, popularly referred to as ‘Abundance’ due to his large heart and generosity, therefore called on all traders in the market, particular his Igbo brothers, his constituents and Lagosians at large to cooperate and support Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in his effort to transform and develop the state ‘we are all proud of’. He concluded by calling on Lagosians to keep Lagos clean by contributing their own quota in cleaner Lagos, dispose their refuse accordingly and pay their taxes so as to attract more infrastructure and development of the state.
