I see myself as the future Sinach—–Esther Benyeogo, winner GCGT season 7

For 19 years Old Esther Benyeogo, an undergraduate of the University of Benin, stardom shined on her last weekend when she was crowned the overall winner of the season 7 edition of the God’s Children Great Talent (GCGT) competition held at the prestigious convention Centre, Eko Hotels & Suites.

With other past winners of the platform, Esther has joined the league of talented singers who are on the path of blessing the souls of Nigerians with their wonderful and God’s given talent.

Like every other contestants, Esther puts in her all to emerge the star of the night performing to an enormous crowd. In this chat with MUTIAT ALLI, Esther talks more about winning the competition, what to do with the grand prize and other future plans amongst others.

Congratulation on your win, what is going through your mind?
Thank you so much!! Right now I feel so much bubbles in me, I am excited and sincerely words alone cannot express what is going through my mind but in all I give praise ad adoration to the almighty for making it a reality.

Did you see it coming that you were going to win?
Well, the dream of every contestants that made it through to the final was to win the ultimate prize just like me too, from day one I already have my eyes on the prize and was working towards it day by day. So in essence I can say that I saw it coming that I will win the grand prize even though I had other contestants who did well too.

In the cause of the competition, who among your fellow contestants did you see as threat to you?
In all sincerity, I did not see anybody as a competitor because I felt the only competition I have is myself; so all I did was to work on myself at all time, listen to corrections and equally learn from my fellow contestants. Another thing again is that, I felt my going into the competition was to impact lives which was the mindset I came with going into the competition. Because I believe if you have that kind of mindset, you won’t actually have any competition.

Now that you have emerged winner, what difference does it bring to Esther as a person?
I really don’t see anything different from the real Esther you are seeing now as to the Esther that won the competition because I won’t say winning will change my attitude toward people around because I am a real person and down to earth. I won’t allow stardom to take over the real me; I have seen people change when they get fame; I am from a strong Christian background and a discipline family, they won’t see me go astray. Nothing will change about me even when I win a bigger prize higher than this.

Was music in-born for you?
Yes it was because this discovered a long time ago

So how did it all did start?
I use to like music a lot, but I wasn’t really a professional singer and I’m still not. I started at the age of twelve, I just know that I can sing not just singing alone but also minister, the first time I ministered an old man came to me and he was crying, so I felt that this gift I have is ordained from God.

When you started off, were you parents in total support?
Yes they are supportive, my mother is super supportive in this I am doing right now and my Late Father I know will be beaming smiles wherever he is right now that I have done him proud.

Do you think GCGT platform would project you around the world?
Anything that involves God doesn’t go down, it has been my prayer point ever since. I know that this is God’s plan for my life, so I’m going higher. It will definitely take me to places.

Among your fellow contestant who would you like to work with on Professional ground?
I will love to work with Nengi Donald Jaja professionally because he has an angelic voice and I could recall few days to final, I heard him singing and I was like, Oh lord Jesus, your children have come to compensate you. He has an angelic voice that will just stick you through.

So, what do you have to say to the organizer of the event?
They organize the event for God, and I’m sure they will never go down, their finances, everything about them will never go down. I want to say thank you for this opportunity you have given children to showcase their talent.

So, from this platform where do we see Esther?
Simply see me as the Future Sinach. Sinach inspires me a lot so I hope to be like her and with God helping me I hope to be bigger and better than her.
