I look forward to returning home soon -Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has said he was looking forward to returning to Nigeria as soon as he resolves issues with his medical doctors, as he played host to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, in London.
Both Saraki and Dogara met with the president, Wednesday night, as they exchanged banters, while the president took the two legislators up on issues back in Nigeria, according to reports made available to Daily Times.
The president in the pictures taken during the visit by Saraki and Dogara look radiant and relaxed as one of his close aides disclosed that the president expressed eagerness to return to Nigeria to resume work soon.
It is not certain yet when President Buhari will return to Nigeria, although such possibility has been tied to the decision of his doctors, who were said to have advised him to stay back to monitor the outcome of the tests conducted on him.
The visit by Saraki and Dogara to President Buhari, according to report, was arranged by top aides of the president as part of plans to prove to Nigerians and the rest of the world that the president is in good health condition.
Dogara, as disclosed, was to visit the president first since he was billed for a programme in the United Kingdom, whereas the Presidency considered it more appropriate for both Saraki and Dogara to make the trip together, for it to record greater impact.
Former governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, accompanied by the former interim chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, had earlier paid President Buhari a visit while the two leaders affirmed that the president was in good health condition.
Recall that on Monday, President Buhari had engaged the president of the United States, Mr. Donald Trump, in a telephone conversation amid reports that the two leaders discussed matters on security, trade, and other diplomatic issues.
The widely reported telephone conversation was still a subject of doubt to many in some quarters, prompting the White House to issue a statement confirming the talks between the two leaders.
