HURIWA tells Buhari: ‘Stop reminding Igbos about how you participated in the murder of their parents’

President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) to cool down and cease threatening war against any section of the country immediately.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, the rights group criticized the president’s threat to the Igbo-speaking region of the country in its entirety in a statement released on Tuesday, June 1.
According to Naija News, Buhari promised to deal with those who, according to him, seek to destroy his government after a security briefing concerning the assault on INEC facilities in the South East yesterday.
Buhari goes further to say that such individuals or groups will receive the shock of their lives as his government will treat them in the language they will understand.
Reacting to the statement, HURIWA warned the president to stop reminding the Igbos how he contributed to the killing of thousands of lives of their parents during the civil war. The Rights group accused Buhari of an excessive penchant for always robbing soap into the eyes of Igbo speaking Nigerians.

HURIWA said it wondered how the leader could issue such a threat to the suspected members of the self-determination organisations such as the proscribed Indigenous peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Movement for the Survival of Biafra (MASSOB) and multiple other organisations.
The Rights group accused Buhari of pampering the Fulani herdsmen who have killed and still killing hundreds of souls daily, destroying peoples farmland and causing havoc because they are his kindred. HURIWA wondered why Buhari has never threatened to take the war to their stronghold.
HURIWA noted that whenever issues affecting the South East of Nigeria are involved, Buhari speaks with so much hatred to such an extent that it is becoming apparent that he is not yet tired of waging war against the South East of Nigeria even after he fought on the side of Nigeria for 30 months against the then Biafra Republic.
A part of the statement reads: “Please President Muhammadu Buhari stop reminding us the Igbo of how you participated in the pogroms that resulted in the killing of over 3 million Igbo in the late 60’s and even after destroying the then Eastern Region, General Yakubu Gowon the then war time junta leader failed to rehabilitate or reconstruct the destroyed Eastern region but after the people through their efforts rebuilt South East of Nigeria, President Buhari is now threatening to launch another civil war against Ndigbo only because a bunch of boys are constructively canvassing self-determination.
“This is outrageous, provocative and sadistic. We condemn this dangerous rhetoric and hate speech with all our hearts and minds and we are putting the World on notice that Muhammadu Buhari plans to carry out another pogrom against Ndigbo”.
