How My Entire Family Was Killed

By Our Reporter
It is heartbreaking for an entire family to be wiped out in a motor accident and traumatic when the other party’s family is targeted and killed.
This is the case of Mr. Oboh Sunday from Agbor town in Delta State of Nigeria. Sunday lived with his family comprising his mother, wife and two sisters in Agbor township.
As a professional driver with the Dangote Group, his job brief entails delivery of goods to different towns in Nigeria.
On 14 December 2014, while doing his usual delivery runs, he was involved in an accident with another vehicle around Agbor in Delta State which claimed the lives of an entire family who were the occupants of the vehicle.
Sunday managed to escape and reported the incident at a nearby Police Station. On getting back to the scene of the accident with Policemen, they discovered that the vehicle he was driving had been set ablaze by an irate mob.
He was detained by the Police and was later bailed after spending two months in detention.
Unknown people started stalking him and his family with series of death threats.
A political angle was added to the whole matter when the family of the dead victims claimed that their son was killed for political reasons as the deceased was contesting for the position of Local Government Chairman under the platform of the APC while the driver was alleged to belong to PDP.
After being jobless for a period, he got a job in Benin, Edo State. While going to work one day, he received a call from Agbor to come home.
On getting home, he discovered that his apartment had been burned to ashes the night before with his mother, wife and two sisters inside.
To make matters worse, his inlaws started accusing him of being responsible for their daughter’s death.
When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer of Agbor confirmed the incident and that effort were being made to bring the culprits to justice.
