ASP Mohammad Jalige, a spokesman for the Kaduna Police Command, confirmed the attack and said only two criminal suspects had been apprehended, adding that the command would release a statement on the incident.

According to a source, the gunmen first broke into a Customs officer’s home and kidnapped his wife, Maryam Bala Ibrahim, and her three children, but they left the children behind and fled with the woman.

The bandits also kidnapped another woman, Mrs. Hulera Haruna, from another house in the neighborhood, according to the source.

The Nigerian Police Force and Kaduna Vigilance organizations, on the other hand, stopped the bandits from attacking the community again.

Five Almajiris from the neighborhood were struck by stray bullets when in the crossfire with the criminals, according to reports.
