Hospital offers free antenatal care, drugs to pregnant women in Bauchi

The Model Primary Health Care in Dagauda, Dambam Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has been providing free antenatal care and drugs to pregnant women as part of efforts to address maternal mortality in the state.
The Officer-in-Charge, Tafida Husasaini, disclosed this when the Bauchi State Commissioner of Information, Usman Shehu Usman, led a delegation on a project inspection visit to the hospital.
Husasaini explained that the state government’s initiative offers free drugs for antenatal care and vaccines, among others.
He attributed the success to the government’s allocation of funds for purchasing and storing adequate drugs.
The hospital’s infrastructure has also been upgraded, featuring 24-hour solar power and a significant increase in bed capacity from 30 to 49.
Husasaini, however, called for additional staff to manage the increasing patient load effectively.
“We have security personnel provided by the African Development Bank, and we appreciate the Local Government Chairman for providing extra space to accommodate more patients,” he added.
The Commissioner was impressed by the hospital’s capacity and the high level of patronage, with patients coming from neighboring local governments like Gamawa, Nengere, and Fika.
The delegation included the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, Director of Press, Sulaiman Dambam, and other media officials.
