Highway robbery made me rich, dismissed soldier boasts

A 32- year- old dismissed soldier, Sgt Chukwuemeka Ohumereachi has been arrested by detectives attached to IGP Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force for armed robbery.

The suspect who was arrested by the team in Ondo State, usually use his army uniform to rob and attack innocent travellers and motorists at the Benin expressed-way by pass.

Information made available to our correspondent revealed that the suspect had served in the Nigerian Army School of signal, Jos but he was dismissed.

He was however arrested in the early hours of Thursday following serious complaint made by residents and travellers who live around the area.

The notorious dismissed soldier who hails from Awka in Anambra State disclosed that he had been into robbery even before he was dismissed in 2016

Ohumereachi said, “I was dismissed from the service as a result of past criminal activities in 2016. I had been robbing even before I left the Army. I have been in the robbery business for the past eight years.”

The suspect also told our correspondent that robbing on the highway made him very rich. “Robbery activities on the high way made me to be a very rich person. I operate a one man gang with skeletal support of four other criminal gangs on the high way.”

He confessed further that all his robbery activities on the high way always took several days to plan and execute.

Items found in his possession includes three different army camouflage, three army jack knife, two black boot, four locally made pistol cut to size and an army beret.

Police source said the suspect will soon be charged to court as soon as police investigation is completed.
