Havertz has single-handedly reminded us of what we’re missing out on as the German League returned to action.

The 20-year-old scored twice in Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-1 victory over Werder Bremen last Monday night, then followed that up with another double in the 3-1 win at Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

In doing so, he will have also reminded Europe’s biggest clubs of what a special talent he is.
Havertz is breaking records in Germany, lots of them.

Havertz

In December, he became the youngest player to reach 100 Bundesliga appearances, and this year he became the youngest to score 30 goals. He’s now on 34.

So as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to build a Manchester United squad that prides itself on youth, Havertz simply must be on his radar.

Both his goals were headers, and each shone a light on Havertz’s broad set of skills.

For the first, he drifted away from his marker to nod home, showing wonderful movement and intuition in order to break free and track the passage of the ball.

His second demonstrated his raw power as he broke free of a crowded defence to flick his header home from a free kick.

Havertz’s understanding of space and movement put him head and shoulders above his fellow forwards and the Bremen defenders.

Kai Havertz heads home Bayer Leverkusen’s opening goal in their 4-1 victory over Werder Bremen on May 18.

Havertz is an attacking midfielder with the intuition of a striker when it comes to putting the ball in the net, whether it is with his head, from tap-ins or long-range screamers.

So what about his future? Surely United cannot afford to let this emerging superstar move to a Premier League rival?
Havertz could fit right into Solskjaer’s system.
