Hausa Community Lauds Ajimobi, Declare Support for His Second Term

Members of the youth wing of the Hausa Community in Oyo State on Tuesday lauded Governor Abiola Ajimobi, saying that the policy thrust of his administration has been of immense benefit to non-indigenes.

The youths, including Bureau de Change operators, Okada riders and others, who thronged the Governor’s Office in their thousands, said they came to solidarize with the governor on his second term bid and to declare their total support towards realizing his ambition.

The Coordinator of the Arewa Youth in the state, Alhaji Danladi Garuba, who led the group, hinged their support on what he called the governor’s tremendous achievements in the area of peace and tranquility across the state.

Besides, he acknowledged the existing peaceful co-existence between all the ethnic nationalities in the state and the indigenes which he said was made possible by the sterling leadership quality of Governor Ajimobi.

Garuba commended the governor for what he termed his support towards the construction of Sabo Central Mosque and the propagation of Islamic religion in the state.

“We are happy with what we have experienced in this state since Ajimobi became governor. Before him, our businesses had become paralysed due to incessant attacks by armed robbers and hoodlums.

“Most of our members who are into the business of bureau de change suffered heavy loss then. But today, we are happy to inform Your Excellency that we are back in business because there is peace everywhere; armed robbers and thugs no longer disturb us.

“We are here in large number today to show our appreciation to you (governor) and to tell you that we will mobilize all our members everywhere in the state to vote for you and Buhari (All Progressives Congress presidential candidate).

“The change we have witnessed in Oyo State in the last four years has encouraged us to support the change at the national level and for you (Ajimobi) to continue so that the Oyo State can continue to witness more development, peace and security. We want to assure you of our total support,’’ he said.

In his remarks, Governor Ajimobi expressed appreciation to the Arewa Community for turning out in large numbers to pledge their support for his re-election bid and for the APC presidential candidate.

Apparently overwhelmed by the euphoria of the event, the governor announced the appointment of one of the members of the Arewa Community, Alhaji Yaya Alli, as his Special Assistant to act as a liaison officer between the Hausa Community and the state government.

The governor reiterated his administration’s decision not to ban the activities of okada riders in the state, stressing that they were engaging in legitimate business which he said had contributed to the economic development of the state.

He used the opportunity to caution the people of the state against selling their permanent voter cards which he said were the only potent instruments to vote for the desired change as exemplified by Gen. Buhari and himself.
