Gusau Airport meets int’l standards, quality of work satisfactory – Works Commissioner

The Honourable Commissioner, Zamfara state Ministry of works and Infrastructure, Engr. Lawal Barau Bungudu has expressed satisfaction over the quality of work done at the Gusau international airport, confirming that it has reached international standards and the requirements provided by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN.
He made this known during the Ministry’s inspection of the level of work carried out  by Triacta Construction Company at the Gusau international Airport site located at Rawaya Village in Gusau the state capital.
In his words, the Commissioner said The work as you can see is going on quite well according to the original plan, I am happy to say that it is unlike the ones we use to see and heard in the previous administrations experienced in Zamfara state, where series of noise would be made over establishment of airport in the state and the whole eight years came and gone without a stone being put on the other in this site.
You all have witnessed today that Gusau international Airport under the Rescue mission of His Excellency Dr Dauda Lawal has attained a considerable level of near completion.
The Engineer handling the building section of the project, Mr. Nicolas Khoury have confirmed that the Terminal is 80%, the Control Tower is 70%  while the fire station is 50% competition.
The runway which is handled by Engr. Nicolas Kfoury have been confirmed to be at the 80%  and he assured us that before the end of January 2026 the runway, the Air front and other necessary construction areas that would enable any flight to land safely would be completed
Recalled that during the Maga schoolgirls abduction saga, the Federal Government sought to land their fighters jet in our Airport and we gladly gave them the permission, meaning that our efforts are appreciated and I am quite impressed with what I have seen, His Excellency Dr Dauda Lawal would pay similar visit to the site and I believe at the end of the day he would be highly impressed just as we right now, he said.
The runway is 3.4Km and the Control Tower is also constructed according to specifications all with aim of meeting international standards.
The commissioner disclosed that there are some equipments that should have been shipped down to the site to aid in quick completion of the Airport construction but the  company insisted that emissaries should be sent to check and ascertain the functionality of the equipments before releasing them to the construction site, saying that there is delay of visas that belong to the emissaries at Canadian Embassy for the past two months.
The time frame for the total completion of the airport project being December 30th 2026 is being militated by some components other than the normal manpower and mechanical efforts of the company handling the project. We are putting effort on our part to ensure that the project would not exceed the stipulated period.
In his words, Engr. Usman Aliyu of the JBI consulting said their presence in the site is to ascertain that the quality of materials and the overall construction meet international standards.
He said the first phase of the construction which are the Terminals, the fire station, the runway and  the control Tower are near completion. The second phase of the construction would focus on the Mosque, the Hospital, the Malls, the Police Station and the EOC which are currently being designed and would commence as soon as possible.
Engr. Aliyu said that the Gusau international Airport is carefully being constructed to meet international standards.
