Gunmen kidnap Lagos monarch

Suspected gunmen have abducted a first class traditional ruler in Lagos, Oba Yushau Goriola Oseni, the Oniba of Ibaland, killed his guard and shot his wife.
The Daily Times gathered that the gunmen, suspected to be from Niger Delta, stormed the monarch’s palace at Iba area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria around 11:30pm on Saturday and took the monarch away, escaping through the waterways.
Palace source said the gunmen killed Oseni’s guard, a Neighbourhood Watch officer, shot his wife and in the process of escaping with the monarch shot a motorcyclist who was passing by.
Confirming the report the Lagos State Police Command Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmus said “It is a new trend been employed by the hoodlums who are originally pipeline vandals tagged ‘militants’ because their vandalism activities have been curtailed and they are incapacitated on robbery they resulted to kidnapping. The command have been arresting them and rescuing the victim, the latest will not be different.”
Meanwhile the command is liasing with our Ogun State counterpart to ensure we put an end to this menace.
The two state government and Police Command are also getting involved; so I’m optimistic in no distance time it will be a thing of the past.
It was also learnt that Oba Oseni is the father of a former Iba Local Council Development, LCDA, Chairman, Mrs. Ramota Oseni-Adeyeri.
