Gunmen assassinate Works Director, Fed Poly Idah

The gruesome murder of the Director of Works of the Federal Polytechnic Idah, Mr. Solomon Ayegba Sani by unknown assailants has thrown the town and entire academic community into confusion.

According to sources the deceased was allegedly murdered around 10 pm at his residence in Idah, Idah Local government area of Kogi State.

Daily Times gathered that the victim has just been promoted to the position of Director of Works by the Polytechnic Management.

The deceased who was a chartered engineer was said to be very qualified for the job.

Before his untimely death on Tuesday in Idah, Sani was said to have been very humble and respectful personality in the institution .

Efforts to speak with the management of the Federal Polytechnic proved abortive as they could not be reached on the telephone lines.

However, the Police Public Relation officer, DSP William Aya confirmed the incident, saying Mr Solomon Ayegba Sani was assassinated by unknown gunmen.

He stated that the brother of deceased reported to police in Idah after the suspected gunmen invaded his residence and killed him.

The Police spokesman said the investigation has commenced immediately, adding that the police is on the trail of the assailants and would be brought to book.
