Gunmen Abduct Leisure Park Director In Edo

Gunmen have kidnapped the chief executive of the Ogba Zoo and Nature Park in Oredo, Edo state, Andy Ehanire, and killed three policemen in the process

Three policemen attached to the Edo Police Command were on Sunday killed by gunmen in Benin City, the state capital.

The policemen were posted to provide security for fun seekers at the Ogba Zoo and Nature Park in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.

The gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, abducted the chief executive of the leisure park, Andy Ehanire.

They also took the rifles of the policemen after killing them.

The shooting disrupted activities at the park as fun seekers scampered for safety.

Spokesman of the Edo Police Command, DSP Moses Nkombe, who confirmed the killings and abduction on the phone, said the situation had been brought under control.

Nkombe said the attackers would soon be brought to book as security had been beefed up in the area.

He assured members of the public that the park remains safe.

The bodies of the slain officers have been deposited at the Benin Central Hospital morgue.
