Guinea Insurance unsure of 2016 audited result submission’s date

Guinea Insurance recently acknowledged that its audited financial result for the period ended 31 December, 2017, was jet to be filed with the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

The regulatory prescribed filling date for the audited financial statement expired on 31th March, 2017, but at the time of filling this report, July, 7th, the result was yet to be filled.

The company, in a statement jointly signed by, Pius Edobor, Executive Director Finance/Admin, and Oluranti Oke, Team Lead, Legal Advisory Services, said, “in the interim, we are inhibited from giving a specific date for the submission of the 2016 audited financial statement of the company to the Nigerian Stock Exchange, as we are not in control of the approval process of the national Insurance Commission.

The company said, “‘kindly note that it is procedural and therefore mandatory that insurance companies in Nigeria submit such documents to the industry primary regulator (National Insurance Commission) for verification and subsequent approval before dissemination to other stakeholders.

“We have, therefore, submitted the company’s audited financial statements for the year ended 31 December, 2016, thus we are awaiting NAICOM’s approval.”
