Group vows to ensure right person emerges President in 2019

A new group, the Nigeria Rebirth Coalition, NRC, has vowed to do everything possible to ensure that the right person is voted into office as the next president of the country come 2019.

The National Chairman of the group, Mr. Chukwuma Okirie, said this in a statement made available to the media yesterday in Abuja.

Okirie decried what he called the many troubles which the nation is currently undergoing and stressed the need for consciously galvanized efforts towards ensuring that the right person would be voted into power by 2019.

The Coalition, the Chairman explained, was formed for the purpose of sensitizing Nigerians of all divides and sections towards producing, supporting, and electing the best Presidential candidate for the 2019 elections.

The Chairman of NRC, whose long stay in the UK and exposure to advanced democracy apparently inspired his new patriotic ideals, said that the nation was in dire need of socio-political rebirth and refocusing.

He regretted that Nigeria’s leaders had failed the masses by deliberate acts of omission and commission in governance.
He however expressed concern that the North-East axis of the geo-polity had yet to take a shot at the presidency.

The NRC Chairman equally pointed out that it would not be in bad taste if the South East zone, whose cry for marginalization could no longer be successfully ignored, be considered for the Vice Presidential slot.

He said that, for now, about thirty five duly registered civil society groups are parts of the organ.
