Group urges Buhari to re-appoint Gana as NSCDC boss

The Citizens Watch Advocacy Initiative (CWAI), a civil society group has written to President, Muhammadu Buhari, to re-appoint the Commandant-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana for a second term in office.

Executive Secretary, Omoba Kenneth Aigbegbele, who disclosed this, said the organization is making the request based on Gana’s milestones and achievements during his first term in office and his re-appointment would enable him consolidate on the achievements recorded thus far.
The organization stated that it is joining other well-meaning Nigerians to clamour for the re-appointment of the NSCDC boss as a result of his transformational philosophy, sterling qualities and managerial dexterity in turning around the fortune of the service
It emphasized Gana’s transformational blueprint as encapsulated by the commandant-general’s zero tolerance for corruption and indiscipline.
“CWAI therefore, urges the President to reappoint the commandant-general for his paradigm shift, on security, leadership, mentoring of officers and men, including his determination to end the perennial farmers/herders clash through the agro-rangers initiative and the upgrade of facilities at the service institute.
“The NSCDC commandant-general is an advocate of the protection of critical national assets as well as the reduction of smugglers across our borders (Lagos-Seme axis) and other areas too numerous to mention.

“CWAI therefore, endorses and passes a vote of confidence on his leadership and seek for his re-appointment as the commandant-general of the NSCDC by the President, especially for the consolidation of the administration’s vision, as his leadership is what Nigeria deserves at this time in our history,” Aigbegbele stated.
According to the group, some of Bala’s achievements in his first term in office to warrant his reappointment include the agro-rangers initiative, robust inter-agency relationship, reducing farmers/herders clashes across the country, partnering with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to curb examination malpractices, tackling of illegal mining and strategic collaboration with traditional rulers to nip in the bud acts of banditry.
