Group unveils pilgrimage site in Ondo town
No fewer than 12, 000 members of the Cherubim & Seraphim organisation are to converge on Ikare-Akoko area of Ondo State, later this week, as the religious group launches its pilgrimage site in Nigeria.
The choice of Ikare is in recognition of the founder of the religious group, the late Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolase, who hailed from the town.
The official launch of the pilgrimage site is believed will attract members of the religious group from all parts of the world to the Sunshine state.
In a release issued by National Executive Chairman of the Church, Supt. Apostle Omoniyi Owomoyela and made available to newsmen in Lagos, he said that the event will be declared open by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State and many eminent church leaders in the country.
Owomoyela also quoted the Supreme Head of the Church, Baba Aladura Solomon Alao, as saying, “Today, Jerusalem, Mecca, Ikeji, Imeko and the home places of almost all founders of religious denominations, groups or sects have been turned to pilgrimage centres as a mark of honour to them and appreciation of the legacies they left behind.
“Ikare-Akoko in Ondo State of Nigeria, the home place of Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolase deserves nothing less. This is why the Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria has risen to champion that cause and I envision that the pilgrimage shall be a yearly exercise in appreciation of God’s benevolence on the black race through an indigene of this town.”
Saint Tunolase was born in Ikare, Ondo State of Nigeria in 1879 and embarked on an evangelical ministry from here in 1916. The ministry which included teaching the Gospel, healing people and performing miracles took him through many towns in Nigeria.
