Group donates relief materials to IDP’s in Edo

The Aviary club of Nigeria, a nongovernmental group has donated relief items to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), in Uhuogua, Ovia North East, Edo State.

The Coordinator, Barrister Hope Iyare led other members of the group to the camp as a way of giving back and showing support to the needy in the society to climax its founders day anniversary activities

Iyare who expressed satisfaction over the efforts put in place by the caregiver in ensuring that the displaced persons live a better life, described him as emulating Christ and urged members of the larger society to emulate the feat.

He explained that, while making plans to donate the relief items, the International Christian Center, which is the home of the IDPs was first in its selected priorities

He said: “We are here on this visit to make our contributions and show appreciation through these relief items to you for caring for these ones who have been displaced by Boko Haram insurgency.

“What you are doing here has assured you of heaven. Well, we can’t compare you to Christ, but we would describe you as Christ like. Though Christ fed over 5,000 but today you are feeding over 3,000 displaced persons in the camp. Trust me some notable persons among us would come back and do more”

Iyare who further pledged that the Aviary club would continue to do all within its coffers to complement efforts of the caregiver, urged stakeholders to place a premium priority in giving a helping hand to the displaced

Responding, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, the Coordinator, International Christian Centre and caregiver of the IDPs in Uhuogua said they were encouraged and motivated by the show of love displayed by the group.

He stressed that some relief materials like antibiotics, anti malarial tablets, learning materials and disposable hand gloves, are presently not available for use.

According to him, “with 3000 displaced persons in the camp we prepare approximately 10-15 bags of rice mixed with other food stuffs per meal to feed them”.

He however appealed to government, philanthropist, corporate entities and the society at large to deepen efforts in making earnest provisions for the IDP’s.

Some relief items distributed include Bags of Rice, Beans, Garri, Indomie noodles, clothes and others.
