Group condemns ex-Benue PDP chair’s murder

A Benue State socio-cultural group, the Idoma National Forum (INF) has condemned the murder of one its sons, Major Lawrence Ugbo (rtd)
The late Ugbo was a former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Benue State.

He was murdered and set ablaze in his car at Ogobia in Benue State penultimate week.

The INF, in a press release, signed by its President, Barr. Amali Adoya Amali, however, called on security agencies to fish out the killers.

The statement read: “It is with great sadness that we receive the news of the callous murder of our elder, Major Lawrence Ugbo (rtd).This murder is not only shocking but also a dent on the peace loving people we the Idoma are known for.

“It is, therefore, with heavy heart we condemn this heinous killing of a true Idoma elder who fought for the unity of this country. We appreciate the state Governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom, his Deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu, and the Chairman of the Otukpo local government council, Mr.George Ali, for their prompt visit to the scene of the crime and government assurance that the killers will be arrested.

“INF calls for justice for the deceased as we urged the security agencies to fish out his killers. We are appealing to the entire nation to give the necessary support to law enforcement agencies in arresting and bringing the killers to face the wrath of the law.

“We pray the soul of our gallant officer rest in perfect peace and God Almighty gives his family the fortitude to bear the huge lost.”
