Group charges govt institutions on transparency

A civil society group has taken a swipe at the poor level of transparency in all government institutions in the country stating it is the root cause of all developmental woes Nigeria currently faces.
The coordinator, the Young African leaders Initiative (YALI), Ovu Otarigo on Tuesday at the 2018 Accountability and Transparency summit, Abuja, faulted the way all government activities are shrouded in secrecy, adding it is high time the public became aware of decisions that concern them.
“We are calling for transparency and accountability in all structures of government agencies, because we know lack of transparency has cost us a lot.
“Corruption is thriving because all of government activities are shrouded in secrecy, and we have seen the effect of corruption is huge, lack of transparency has caused bad roads in our country, we know this,” he said.
