Group Allegedly Accuses Military of Burning Houses of Igbos

The Nigerian military has been accused of allegedly attacking and burning houses belonging to Igbos while claiming to be after terrorists.

A spokesman of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mr.Emma Powerful, made the remark while accusing the Nigerian military of burning down houses in Uli, Anambra State, Okigwe and Orlu in Imo State under the pretext of searching for outlawed terrorists as criminals.

Recall that on Sunday, January 28 2024, the Nigerian military invaded the peaceful community of Uli in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State where houses were burnt down and other properties of Igbo indigenes destroyed, He said.

Also barely a week ago on January 22nd in Orlu in Imo State, several houses were also attacked and burnt down as many youths fled from the community leaving behind some of the elderly to die as they were too weak to run before and after the attack.

“The Nigerian military burnt down many houses in Uli in Anambra State and other communities in Orlu in Imo State under the disguise of looking for criminals, and the media did not report it.”

“Do the Nigerian military burn down the houses of innocent people in other parts of Nigeria? Do they destroy properties in Northern Nigeria when going after the terrorists and bandits ravaging the North?

“The southeastern region of Nigeria has suffered numerous terrorist attacks resulting in mass murders, destruction of properties, and forceful disappearances of many youths from Nigeria Security Forces and their foot soldiers by the Fulani terrorist herdsmen.” He noted.

The spokesman of IPOB said the attacks and burning of Igbos houses in the Southeastern part of the country go unreported in the conventional media.

Similarly these attacks have worsened more in recent times now as more families have lost their loved ones to these heinous attacks while many are not accounted for following their sudden disappearance.
