Grandpa, 70, Defiles Minor – Witness

An Ikeja High Court, presided by Justice Atinuke Ipaye, was on Thursday told how a 70-year-old man, TajudeenShoneye, allegedly abused an 8-year-old girl sexually.
The septuagenarian was arraigned on May 13th, 2015, on one-count charge of ‘defilement, contrary to Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

He was alleged to have committed the offence on June15, 2013.

At Thursrday’s trial, the prosecution witness, DrEdem Duke, a consultant Pediatrician with the Lagos State government hospital, under examination by the prosecution counsel, Akin George, told the court that in 2013, the victim was brought to the hospital for medical check-up.
“In 2013, I was with Gbagada General Hospital but have been very familiar with children, working as Pediatrician for over 10years,”she said.
She added: “In June 2013, a little girl was brought to the hospital. She was eight years old. It was an evening and she came with two female adults. The women with her said they were her teachers in the school and they were worried with the way she always withdrawn to herself. When she arrived, she was limping as she was walking. That was on June 18, 2013.”
