The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi Tuesday flagged off a 500-meter road within the premises of Christ Embassy Church (popularly known as Love World Complex) in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The project, which is part of the governor’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) to churches in the state, is being executed at the cost of N76million, and it will have the entire church compound asphalted with a stone base of 12 inches, with over 12,000 square meters and it’s also to serve neigbours within the area.
Performing the flag-off ceremony, Governor Umahi, said similar projects had been done at Anglican Church, Catholic Church and others, adding that that the Ebonyi State Road Maintenance Agency (EBROMA) had just been directed to go round other churches within Abakaliki metropolis to take measurement of roads there.
Umahi, who was represented at the flag-off event by his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Infrastructural Maintenance, Mr. Ali Odefa, maintained it was expedient for the agency to do this in order to see the possibility of fixing the roads as soon as possible, pointing out that over the years worshippers had complained of difficulty accessing their churches, owing to bad road network.
Odefa said it was surprising that, at a time, when the country was going through a severe economic downturn, the Governor was able to embark on numerous projects across the state, stressing that there was a wind of positive change currently blowing in the state under the present administration led by Governor Umahi.
Odefa, who described the Governor as a Giver without bounds, urged the people of the state to ensure they register in the on-going continuous voter registration to make sure they vote the governor in the forthcoming 2019 governorship election, adding “INEC will not count good wishes and prayers from people during the election, but votes cast by Ebonyians”.
He warned that it would be fool-hardy for Ebonyians to vote people they could not vouch for, just because, they perceive the incumbent as being weak or wicked, regretting that Nigerians were suffering what they go through today, because they voted out an ex-president, whom they believed was a weak leader.
He thanked the church members for their continuous prayers for the government, noting that Christ Embassy’s teachings, counsel and programmes have had indelible and positive impact on the life of the current administration in Ebonyi State.
“This project is part of the governor’s corporate social responsibility to churches in the state, and this particular one is done at the cost of N76million”.
“It will have the entire church compound asphalted with a stone base of 12 inches, with over 12,000 square meters and it’s also to serve the neigbours within the area”.
“Good people of Ebonyi, INEC will not count numerous wishes and prayers at the end of the election. What INEC will count are people’s votes. So, go and register for your PVCs. That’s the only thing that will ensure you reciprocate these good gestures, that the governor has shown you”, he said.
