Gov Ortom, Suswam pledge lasting partnership

Former Governor of Benue state, Dr. Gabriel Suswam and his successor, Samuel Ortom have pledged to forge lasting partnership for the progress of the state.

They made the pledge at the hosting of cultural entertainers, which took place at the lawn tennis court of the Benue People’s House in Makurdi.

The event lasted from the late hours of Sunday 21st to 22nd October, 2018.

Both Ortom and Suswam stated that they had put the past behind them and have resolved to work together.

Dr. Suswam appealed to Governor Ortom’s lieutenants to touch base with their communities and give them the current information about the Governor’s achievements and his challenges.

He urged his successor to repose confidence in God who is able to resolve challenges which are beyond him in his favour.

Governor Ortom expressed appreciation to the Tiv Traditional Council for brokering peace between him and his successor pointing out that they were better united than working separately.

He assured workers in the state that everything was being done to ensure that the last Paris Club Refund that was withdrawn was returned so that part of their arrears of salary would be cleared.

The Governor explained that the people of the State were not against the Fulani people citing the votes they gave to former presidents Shehu Shagari and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua who are from that race.

Governor Ortom stated that the two presidents reciprocated the support they received by patronizing Benue people through federal appointments as well as projects.

He stated that majority of the people of the State are opposed to the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and his party because they have failed to register any positive federal presence in the state even as they have failed to secure lives and property.

The various groups extolled the virtue of the Ortom administration and urged the people to re-elect him in 2019.
